Privacy Policy

interdisciplinary design lab. (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates the iOS application “Povie” (the “App”). This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your personal information when you use the App.

1. Overview

The App is designed to perform all video processing, face detection, hand detection, beauty effects, and recording entirely on your device. We do not upload or send your video, audio, face data, or hand shape data to our servers.

2. Information We Process

2.1 Processed Only on Your Device (Not Transmitted)

The App processes the following information locally on your device and does not transmit it to our servers or any third-party servers:

Camera video (including face, hands, background)
Microphone audio (only during recording)
Face detection results (outline, eye positions, etc.)
Hand pose detection results (finger positions, etc.)
Beauty effect processing results

These are processed in real time solely for the App’s features (live preview, gesture recognition, video generation) and remain on your device.

2.2 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

Recorded videos: Saved to your Photo Library only when you tap the “Save” button.
Purchase information: In-app purchase history managed by Apple via StoreKit. The App itself only retains purchase identifiers locally.

2.3 Information Collected or Transmitted by Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each of which may collect data according to its own policy:

Google AdMob (Advertising)

For the purpose of ad delivery and personalization, information such as the following may be sent to Google:

Advertising Identifier (IDFA)
Device information (model, OS version, language)
Approximate location (derived from IP address)
Ad impressions and tap history

The App displays an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) dialog, and uses tracking for ads only if you explicitly grant permission.

Apple StoreKit (Purchases)

In-app purchases are processed directly by Apple.
Payment information is processed on Apple’s servers, not through our App.

3. Purposes of Information Use

We use the information for the following purposes:

Providing the App’s features (camera preview, gesture recognition, video recording and saving)
Processing in-app purchases via StoreKit
Displaying ads via AdMob (free users only)
Analyzing usage through Apple’s anonymized aggregated data only

4. Disclosure to Third Parties

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties without your prior consent, except as required by law. However, information processed by Google AdMob and Apple is governed by their respective privacy policies, and your use of the App constitutes acceptance of those policies.

5. Your Rights

Opt out of ad tracking: You can disable IDFA usage at any time via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Revoke Camera / Microphone / Photo Library permissions: You can change or revoke the App’s permissions at any time via iOS Settings.
Uninstall the App: Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data (videos already saved to the Photo Library will remain).

6. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed at any specific age group, but we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If the App is used by a child under 13, it should be used under parental supervision.

7. Data Retention

On-device data: Retained until you uninstall the App.
Data held by third-party services: Subject to each service’s policy.

8. Security

Because the App performs all processing on your device, the risk of data leakage is minimized by design.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy without prior notice in response to changes in law, new features, etc. Changes become effective upon posting on this page.
